About ScaleBig Construction

A design-build firm, built around standards.

Family-run in Mississauga. Focused on residential renovation across the GTA.

Our Approach

ScaleBig Construction was built around a clear model: take on a deliberate number of projects, run them with one accountable owner on site, and design them under the same roof that builds them.

Design and construction work better when they're not separated. Decisions move faster, details are caught earlier, and what's shown in the rendering is what's delivered in the finished space. That continuity is the foundation of everything we do.

Ahmad, founder and project manager of ScaleBig Construction

Founder & Project Manager

Ahmad — Founder & Project Manager

Ahmad's construction career began in the GTA, first in structural framing and then under a design-build contractor where he learned the full process — from foundation through finish, from drawings through inspection. He took on his own clients, built a reputation through referrals and finished work, and formalized the business as ScaleBig Construction.

Ahmad manages every project personally. He's the point of contact from the first walkthrough through final handover, on site daily, and responsible for the result. His standard is straightforward: work that doesn't meet it gets corrected before the next phase begins.

Dina, in-house interior designer at ScaleBig Construction

In-House Interior Designer

Dina — In-House Interior Designer

Dina is a professionally trained interior designer with experience in colour, space planning, finish selection, and photorealistic 3D renderings. She is also Ahmad's sister, and design and construction operate side by side at ScaleBig as a result.

Most projects begin with Dina. Layout, materials, finishes, and renderings are developed before construction begins, so homeowners see the finished space before any work starts. Design consultations and renderings are offered as professional services, with fees credited toward the project upon signed construction agreement.

Engineering & Permits

Every project is different. Some require permits, some don't, and we'll let you know clearly which yours requires. Where permits apply, we handle the full process — application, engineered drawings, inspections, and sign-off.

For structural modifications, beam installations, and load-bearing wall removals, we work with licensed Professional Engineers for assessments and stamped drawings. Electrical work is coordinated with ESA inspectors for proper certification. Our default recommendation is to proceed with full permits, and we'll provide honest guidance on what your specific scope requires.

Our Trades Network

The trades on every ScaleBig project are people Ahmad has worked with over time and trusts to hold our standard. The same plumbers, electricians, tilers, and finishers across projects, with accountability at every level.

Continuity matters. Familiar trades work to known expectations and deliver consistent results. Where work needs to be corrected, it is — before the phase closes.

What We Focus On — And What We Don't

ScaleBig is built for a specific kind of work. The list below is where we focus, and where we don't, so homeowners can make an informed decision before reaching out.

01

Single-trade work

ScaleBig is a design-build firm. For projects involving only paint, flooring, or a single fixture install, dedicated specialists are generally a better fit.

02

Commercial projects

We focus exclusively on residential renovation. Commercial work operates on different requirements, and we direct those inquiries to firms built for them.

03

Insurance claim restorations

Restoration work has its own specialized workflow. For flood, fire, or insurance-driven rebuilds, we recommend firms that specialize in claim-based projects.

04

Structural work without engineering

For any modification involving a load-bearing element, we work from stamped engineered drawings. Engineering is a fixed requirement on those scopes.

05

Working with homeowner-supplied trades

We bring our own trades on each project. Maintaining a single accountable team allows us to stand behind the full result.

06

Compressed timelines that affect quality

Quality work follows the time the scope requires. Where a deadline would force us to reduce the standard of execution, we'll be open about it at the proposal stage.

07

Complimentary design work

Design and rendering are professional services with associated fees. Where homeowners proceed with construction, design fees are credited toward the project.

08

Cost-plus contracts

We work on fixed-price contracts with clear milestones. The investment is established before construction begins, and scope changes are documented and approved in writing.

09

Lowest-bid comparisons

Our proposals are comprehensive — design, permits, project management, accountable trades, and inclusions are itemized transparently. Where lowest-bid pricing is the priority, ScaleBig may not be the right fit, and we respect that.

Start the Conversation

If the way we work aligns with the kind of renovation you're planning, we'd be glad to hear from you. Every project begins with a conversation, a walkthrough, and a clear next step.
