About ScaleBig Construction
Built deliberately. Standards that don't move.
A family-run design-build firm in Mississauga, focused on doing fewer projects better.
Why ScaleBig Exists
There are a lot of contractors in the GTA. Most chase volume, juggle too many jobs at once, and pass the consequences to homeowners — missed timelines, rotating subs, finishes that look fine on day one and fail by year two. Homeowners deserve better than that.
ScaleBig Construction was built around a different idea: take on fewer projects, run them with one accountable owner on site, design them under the same roof that builds them, and don't compromise the standard for anyone. That's the whole model.
It isn't complicated. But it's rare.

Founder & Project Manager
Ahmad — Founder & Project Manager
Ahmad started on construction sites in the GTA — first in structural framing, then under a design-build contractor where he learned the trade end-to-end: from foundation through finish, from drawings through inspection. He took on his own clients, built a reputation through referrals and finished work, and eventually incorporated ScaleBig Construction to formalize what the business had already become.
He runs every project personally. That's not a marketing claim — it's the operating model. There is no junior project manager you'll get handed off to. There is no foreman speaking on Ahmad's behalf. The person who quotes your project is the person who manages it, walks it every day, and answers for it when something needs to be made right.
Ahmad's standard is simple: if a trade's work doesn't meet it, it gets redone before the next phase starts. No exceptions, no excuses, no consequences passed to the homeowner.

In-House Interior Designer
Dina — In-House Interior Designer
Dina is a professionally trained interior designer with deep experience in colour, space planning, finish selection, and photorealistic 3D renderings. She is also Ahmad's sister — which matters more than it sounds.
In most renovations, designer and builder are two separate firms who barely speak. Drawings get handed off, intentions get lost in translation, and the homeowner ends up arbitrating between them. At ScaleBig, design and build happen under the same roof, by people who work together every day. Decisions get made faster, mistakes get caught earlier, and what you see in the rendering is what you walk into when the project finishes.
Dina's design isn't an upsell or a loss-leader. It's a paid professional service that determines whether your project succeeds or struggles. Most projects begin with her — long before a hammer swings.
Engineering & Permits
Every project is different. Some require permits, some don't, and we'll tell you honestly which yours falls into. Where permits are required, we handle the full process — application, engineered drawings, inspections, sign-off.
For structural modifications, beam installations, or load-bearing wall removals, we work with licensed Professional Engineers for assessments and stamped drawings. Electrical work is coordinated with ESA inspectors for proper certification. Our default recommendation is always to go fully permitted — and where work doesn't legally require it, we'll be straight with you about that too.
Our Trades Network
Ahmad has spent years building a roster of trades he trusts and stands behind. Same plumbers. Same electricians. Same tilers. Same finishers. The same people on every project, holding the same standard.
That continuity matters. New trades on every job means new inconsistencies, new excuses, new things that fall through the cracks. We keep the same crews because they know what we expect and they deliver it — and when they don't, they redo it before we close the phase. Accountability lives at the trade level, not just at ours.
What We Don't Take On
Premium work means knowing what we're not. These are the projects we turn down.
Single-trade work
We're a design-build firm. If you need just paint, just flooring, or one bathroom fixture installed, we're not the right call. There are excellent specialists who do that work better than we would.
Commercial projects
We focus exclusively on residential. That's where our standards, our trades, and our process are built for. Commercial work runs on different rules, and we don't pretend to be experts in it.
Insurance claim restorations
We're not a restoration company. If you've had flood, fire, or insurance-related damage and need a claim-driven rebuild, we'll point you to firms built specifically for that work.
Structural work without engineering
If we're touching a load-bearing element, there's a stamped engineered drawing behind it. No exceptions, no shortcuts, no 'we've done it this way for years.' Engineering is non-negotiable.
Working with homeowner-supplied trades
We bring our own vetted trades who we trust and stand behind. Mixing trades mid-project — yours, ours, your brother-in-law's — breaks the accountability chain we've built. We're responsible for the result, which means we choose who's on the site.
Rushed timelines that compromise quality
Quality work takes the time it takes. If a deadline forces us to skip steps, cut details, or push trades past their best work, it's not a project we'll take on. We'd rather decline than deliver something we wouldn't sign our name to.
Free design
Design takes Dina's full attention, and her time has real cost. Design consultations and renderings are paid professional services — credited against your construction agreement if you move forward with us.
Cost-plus pricing
We quote fixed-price contracts with clear milestones. You know the investment before we start, and the number doesn't change unless scope does — and when it does, every change is documented and approved in writing first.
Lowest-bid comparisons
Our quotes include everything: design, permits, project management, accountable trades, and a standard that doesn't move. They're not always the cheapest, but they're honest. If apples-to-apples pricing is the priority, we're probably not the right fit, and that's fine.
If This Sounds Like the Right Fit
Premium work isn't for everyone, and we're not for everyone. But if you've read this far and what we've described sounds like the kind of contractor you've been looking for — let's talk.
